I run a 1,000 W HPS light. I switched to LED but I didn't care for it. I got bigger, fuller more solid buds with the HPS.
I use both mh/hps and led. I have two 5x5 tents with Sunmaster enclosed hoods and 1000w dimmable lumatek ballasts. I rarely run 1000w except for some hazes and long flowering genetics but mostly sit around the 600 range and absolutely love the results.
I personally prefer HPS flower over LED flower. But for a tent grow LED is the smart choice.
I still use 600w HPS because it's cold and the heat is useful. For taller plants it's efficient to hang the bare bulb vertically and surround the bulb with plants (no reflector).
UK here too. Been MH/HPS for 20+ years now. I've been contemplating LEDs as they are improving all the time but I'm old and stuck in my ways! My main issue is heat, too hot in summer but that heat comes in really handy in winter.
Denser buds and faster more vigous growth under hid lights compared to led, from personal experience switching from a weaker led during veg to a 1000w makes your plant explode with growth. This is how we did back in the day in California before the led light gained acceptance.
HPS in the winter and led any other time
yes, especially facilities. my job uses a few thousand. but working under those babies is toasty af.
I love my CMH and HPS. There cheap and they work well. Quality LEDs get expensive quick.

I still use a 1000watt hps light. Tried the swap to 2x 240 watt quantum boards and just dont get the same results
